Fantasy Football – Gameweek 29

Just a quick one this week. Let’s go straight to the picks.

Three alternative to Ronaldo as Captain:

1. Lampard or Drogba/Chelsea – With United playing Liverpool this week, their players are likely to cancel each other out in a low scoring game. Chelsea face Man City at Stamford Bridge. Mark Hughes’ side are terrible away from home so you’d look to Chelsea’s two biggest stars to continue their recent good form.

2. Vidic/Man Utd – It’s always slightly risky picking players from games in which two of the Big Four are playing. I do think that at Old Trafford Utd will still manage to keep Liverpool at bay with someone like Vidic always a good threat from set pieces.

3. Beattie/Stoke – A tough game away against Everton but Beattie is the most in form player in the game with 49 points from seven games.

Three suggested transfers in:

1. Lennon/Spurs – Usually I’m loath to suggest Spurs players in anywhere but the players to avoid column due their maddening inconsistency. However Lennon (and indeed Keane) have been in good form recently, particularly in the recent 4-0 win over Boro. He has three goals in three games and Spurs are finally pulling away from the drop zone.

2. Rooney/Man Utd – The Champions League takes a breather for a few weeks so in the meantime Man Utd will be concentrating on sewing up the title. Rooney always scores in bunches and has three in his last three. He should keep it up for a few weeks yet.

3. Everton defenders – Four straight clean sheets.

Three players to avoid:

1. Crouch/Portsmouth – No league goals since December. Portsmouth are relying on him to get them out of the drop zone.

2. Newcastle players – I’m sure they’ll somehow find a way to beat the drop. I just don’t know who will do it for them besides Owen.

3. Anelka/Chelsea – One goal since December. Drogba now the main man again.

I know everyone who predicts things will be wrong a lot of the time, but do you think Vidic for fantasy Captain might have been your worst one yet?

Quite possibly. I’m sure we’ve picked C-Ron when he’s got sent off too. It’s no skin off my nose, as none of us have him.
