Our last round of betting was a bit poor and only brought in three winners. I’m not one to bet on every game though so was picking some risks rather than bankers (though nothing is ever certain etc). Anyway, this week sees matchday 4 of the Champions League, with several teams looking to secure their qualification to the next phase.
CFR Cluj v Bordeaux
Roma v Chelsea
Anorthosis Famagusta v Inter Milan
Werder Bremen v Panathinaikos
Barcelona v Basle
Sporting v Shakhtar Donetsk
Liverpool v Atletico Madrid
Marseille v PSV Eindhoven
Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd, Barcelona and Inter can all secure qualification with wins but only Chelsea are higher than evens as they are away from home. Pick any three for a treble bet or back Chelsea to beat Roma @ 2.18.
Celtic away in Europe are atrocious but at home their record is decent. I think Man Utd should still win but prefer over 2.5 goals @ 2.08.
Fenerbahce vs Arsenal produced seven goals first time around. I’m wary of backing Arsenal to win having been burnt a couple of times recently but do anticiapte another high scoring game. The odds on over 2.5 aren’t great but we’ll stick our neck out on over 3.5 goals @ 2.42.
Finally, in the same group, no one else has been scoring much. In six games, Dynamo Kiev and FC Porto have only five goals between them and it was narrow 1-0 win for Kiev two weeks ago. Try under 2.5 goals @ 1.74.
